Craigslist is an American classified broadcast website with departments devoted to jobs, housing, for sale, items wanted, services, community service, gigs, resumes, and discussion forums.
Craig Newmark initiated the service in as an email circulation list to friends, headlining regional events in the San Francisco Bay Area. It grows into a web-based service in and expanded into other classified sections. It started spreading to other U.S. cities in , and now broadcast countries. In March two thousand eight, Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Portuguese became the initial non-English language terminology promoted. As of August , , over hundred cities and sectors in countries had Craigslist section. Some Craigslist sites involve large regions instead of particular metropolitan areas. For instance, the U.S. communities are surrounded by the locations with their own Craigslist sites. Craigslist sites for some bigger cities, such as Los Angeles, also include the capability for the user to target a specific area of a town (such as central Los Angeles).
